ROME
After breakfast, we depart for Rome. With guests who wish to join, we begin our Rome Monuments Tour (55 Euro). Once a magical city that shone with endless splendor and was shaped by the winds of history, Rome has been home to the grandeur of its emperors, the courage of gladiators, and the highest forms of art. On this tour, we will view Castel Sant'Angelo from the outside, where Cem Sultan was imprisoned. Castel Sant'Angelo was originally built as a mausoleum by Roman Emperor Hadrian, later converted into a fortress. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, it served as a prison and a papal castle. Another site we will see in Rome is the Colosseum, located at the heart of the city and carrying the spirit of antiquity. In this colossal arena, brave gladiators and wild beasts once engaged in epic battles accompanied by the cheers of the crowd. After viewing the Colosseum from the outside, as we approach the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi), famous for the film "La Dolce Vita," the melody of water echoes among dazzling sculptures. Other sites to be visited include the Roman Forum, the social, commercial, and religious center of the era; Piazza Venezia, featuring the colossal white marble monument to Vittorio Emanuele II; the Temple of Hadrian; the Pantheon; and the Spanish Steps, which consist of 135 steps and feature a sunken ship fountain. Afterwards, we proceed to St. Peter's Square in Vatican City. Upon arrival, you will have free time to visit the square. The obelisk in the center of the square and the colonnades surrounding it will leave you impressed. While strolling through the square, you may also see the Apostolic Palace and the famous window from which the Pope delivers his Sunday prayers. In the evening, we return to our hotel in Rome and enjoy free time to rest.
ROME – NAPLES – POMPEII – ROME
After breakfast, the rest of the day is free. For guests who wish, we begin our Naples-Pompeii tour (135 Euro). We head to the ancient city of Pompeii, located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, which was buried under ash following its eruption in 79 AD. During the Roman Empire, Pompeii was an important center for trade and culture. The city was a thriving settlement where agriculture, commerce, and art flourished. However, due to the destructive eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the city was suddenly covered by layers of lava and ash. This disaster froze daily life in Pompeii as it was in that era, turning it into an open-air museum preserved until today. Then we move on to Naples. Upon arrival in Naples, we take a city tour. Naples was founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC and is the capital of the Campania region in southern Italy. The city became an important center during the Roman Empire and has hosted many cultures and civilizations from the Middle Ages to the present day.
