This famous monument was begun in the 13th century as a defensive fortress and palace on a plateau atop the Sabika hill overlooking Granada, with construction continuing until the 15th century. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area is famous for its narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and scenic hills.
