ROME
After breakfast, depart for Rome. We begin our Rome Monuments Tour (55 Euros) with guests who wish to participate. Once a magical city that shone with eternal splendor and was shaped by the winds of history, Rome has hosted the grandeur of its emperors, the courage of gladiators, and the highest forms of art. During this tour, we will see Castel Sant’Angelo, where Cem Sultan was imprisoned, from the outside. Castel Sant'Angelo was originally built by Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum and was later converted into a fortress. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was used as a kind of prison and papal fortress. Another place we will see in Rome is the Colosseum, carrying the spirit of ancient times in the heart of the city. In this enormous arena, brave gladiators and wild animals once engaged in epic struggles accompanied by the cheers of the public. After viewing the Colosseum from the outside, as we approach the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi), made famous by the film La Dolce Vita, the melody of the water echoes among the dazzling statues. The Roman Forum, the social, commercial, and religious center of the period; Piazza Venezia, home to the enormous Vittorio Emanuele monument made of white marble; the Temple of Hadrian; the Pantheon; and the Spanish Steps, consisting of 135 steps and featuring the Fountain of the Sunken Ship, are among the places to be seen. Afterwards, we depart for the famous St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. Upon arrival, free time to visit the square. The obelisk in the center of the square and the columns surrounding it will impress you. While walking around the square, you can see the Apostolic Palace and the famous window from which the Pope prays on Sundays. In the evening, return to our hotel in Rome and enjoy free time to rest.
ROME – NAPLES - POMPEII – ROME
Free time all day after breakfast. We begin our Naples-Pompeii (135 Euros) tour with our guests who wish to join. We depart for the ancient city of Pompeii, located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius and buried under ash following the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. Pompeii was an important center of commerce and culture during the Roman Empire. The city was a prosperous settlement where agriculture, trade, and art flourished. However, as a result of the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the city was suddenly buried under a layer of lava and ash. This disaster froze Pompeii's daily life at that time and turned it into an open-air museum preserved to the present day. Then we continue to Naples. Following our arrival in Naples, we take a city tour. Naples was founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC and is the capital of the Campania region in southern Italy. The city became an important center during the Roman Empire and has hosted many cultures and civilizations from the Middle Ages to the present day. The City Center (Centro Storico) is famous for its narrow streets, historic churches, ancient ruins, and magnificent squares. After our city tour, we have free time and, following our meeting at the time determined by our guide, return to our hotel, followed by free time to rest.
