Magnificent Bosnia's Cultural Treasures 3 Nights - With THY on October 29 (October 29 Special)

Meet 3 hours before departure at the Turkish Airlines International Terminal counter of Istanbul Airport. After passport and check-in procedures, we depart for Sarajevo on Turkish Airlines' scheduled flight TK1021 at 14:50. Upon arrival at 14:40 local time, we proceed to Sarajevo city center with our waiting vehicle. Sarajevo, the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a highly significant center, especially within the Balkans. The city is a meeting point where Western Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Southern Ottoman peoples converge. Throughout history, it has been an example of civilizations in conflict, yet also a beacon of hope for peace through its multiculturalism and tolerance. Known for its religious diversity, Muslims, Christians of various denominations, and Jews have lived together here for centuries. The city reflects its rich historical diversity in its architecture; some areas resemble Central European cities, while just a few streets away, one can encounter influences reminiscent of Ottoman or Soviet-style socialist modernism. After arriving at the center, during our walking city tour, we will visit Vijecnica (City Library), originally built as a municipal building during the Austro-Hungarian Empire era but now serving as the National Library; Inat Kuca, known for its surprising story; the Bosna River; the Latin Bridge, which has survived from the Ottoman period to today; and the site where the spark of World War I was ignited—the location where the Austro-Hungarian Archduke was shot. Next, we will move to Bas Carsija, Sarajevo's historic center, famous for its Ottoman-era cobblestone narrow streets, traditional bazaar, and historic mosques. In this area, it is possible to hear the call to prayer while passing by a church or synagogue. Among the places we will see in the Bas Carsija district are Bas Carsija Sebili, Pigeon Square, the historic clock tower, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and Morica Han, the only Ottoman caravanserai preserved from the Ottoman period to the present day. We will conclude our tour by visiting Vjecna Vatra (Eternal Flame), dedicated to the military and civilian casualties who liberated Sarajevo during World War II. The monument consists of tiles inscribed with text in the colors of the former Yugoslav flag (blue, white, and red) and features a copper vessel shaped like a laurel wreath containing an ever-burning open flame. After breakfast at our hotel in the morning, we depart for the Magnificent Bosnian Heritage (Počitelj & Blagaj & Mostar) tour. First, we will visit Počitelj, a well-preserved historic town known as the Turkish Village, where we will see buildings constructed during the Ottoman period in the 16th century and Počitelj Fortress. Next, our destination will be Blagaj. In this historic town, we will visit Blagaj Tekke, an Ottoman-era dervish lodge built on the banks of the Buna River and surrounded by high cliffs. During the free time along the Buna River, you may have your lunch. After the break, we will take a short journey to Mostar. In this city established around the Neretva River, our walking tour will first include the Mostar Bridge. A masterpiece of Ottoman architecture, the bridge is the symbol of the city. Although it was destroyed in the conflicts of late 1992, it was rebuilt in 2004 with significant contributions from the Republic of Turkey. The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque will also be among the sites visited during our tour. After the tour, there will be free time. Transfer back to our hotel at the time specified by our guide. The city was named "City of Viziers" because many viziers of the Ottoman Empire were from there; its historical fabric, narrow streets, fountains, and stone houses dating back to the Ottoman period are breathtaking. During our tour, we will visit Süleymaniye Mosque (Alaca Mosque) and Travnik Fortress, both of which hold great significance for Ottoman and Bosnian history. After the tour, free time.
